We have recently had the pleasure of working alongside one of our most highly valued clients in order to build an 812 N Largo to his exact specification – and in the context of his collection, it makes total sense. When your stable has a Chiron, a Veyron, a LaFerrari and in fact in a number of cases multiple examples of limited edition Ferraris – having something totally unique and slightly outlandish is the perfect quirky car to complete the garage.

We are the first people to admit – the 812 N Largo is a divisive car. Some people love them, others don’t & quite frankly that’s totally allowed. Some people love the Aventador SVJ, other people want nothing more than a de-badged M6 – the simple reality is that if something sets your world alight, go and enjoy it!

The first thing to note about this car is the spec – other N Largos have been satin bronze, or had purple interiors and more power to those owners – the car is a statement and there is nothing wrong with making a bold one – however, it’s important to bear in mind that an understated, subtle spec often suits these cars just as well as (if not better than) a colour taken from a packet of Skittles. The Grigio Silverstone Opaco paintwork is sublime, the car left the factory with this very paint colour so the continuity of delivery spec was preserved. The customer also opted to fit a set of silver, brushed aluminium finish wheels to the car which really helps set them off as they contrast with the matte paint.

The second thing to note is that this car does not have the lowering springs installed, the customer liked the level of clearance he had due to a particularly steep garage exit and for that reason did not have the car lowered at all. Similarly the dish on the wheels negated any need for spacers, they are so deep and fill the bodywork so well that they simply weren’t required.

Finally, and most unusually, the car does not have the N Largo exhaust installed. Typically an N Largo will be fitted with the following exhaust items from Novitec:

  • Rear silencers
  • X pipe (in place of middle muffler)
  • Decat pipes
  • Novitec Techtronic (to clear warning light from cat removal)
  • Novitec Switchtronic (to operate exhaust valves)

This results in one of the most exciting exhaust notes on the road today – a completely straight piped, 800hp V12 from Ferrari is a hell of a thing to witness – but our customer didn’t feel the need to deafen everyone he encountered. His point was that the bodywork was statement enough, he wanted to turn heads purely for the design rather than simply by virtue of the volume of the car.

The widened stance, the carbon fibre, the rear wing, the sills, the wheels…everything about this car screams presence – this car is the Ferrari for people who love Lamborghini’s ethos of above all building a poster car. This car is imposing and angry, even when it’s locked up and parked. Our customer is the perfect demonstration that there is a place for a car like this in any serious car collection, and when done right you can end up with a really stunning piece of design – not just a very wide, loud noise maker.
