The thought of importing a luxury vehicle may sound daunting, but it\u2019s actually a common path, especially for collectors and drivers looking for a specific ride. If you\u2019ve been planning to import a Ferrari<\/strong> or Lamborghini from overseas, there are a few things that you must keep in mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How To Import Lamborghini and Ferrari to the UK<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are a few steps involved when you import Ferrari and Lamborghini. The UK is strict about car importing, so there\u2019s a chance you\u2019ll be prosecuted if your imported vehicle is seen on the road before you properly complete the required steps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The importing steps might also differ based on whether you\u2019re using an import company to help you, or if you do so independently by ferry or through the Channel Tunnel.       You need to make an import declaration to bring a vehicle into the UK from anywhere except the Isle of Man. If you\u2019re hiring a shipping company or customs agent, they\u2019ll usually make the import declaration for you. Your only task is to bring the vehicle in, or to the border. Then, you\u2019ll have to pay your customs duty or VAT at the border. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      On the other hand, if you ship your vehicle independently by ferry or through the Channel Tunnel, you only need to make an import declaration if there are customs duties or VAT to pay. The HMRC will tell you if you have to pay once your vehicle enters the UK. If you need to make an import declaration, however, you still need to pay a customs agent or a shipping company to handle it for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Reporting to HMRC<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      When importing a vehicle, you have 14 days to report the car\u2019s arrival to HM Revenue and Customs. This is a must as you can\u2019t register the vehicle before the HMRC knows about your imported vehicle. Be punctual with this, as you might be fined if you\u2019re only reporting after the 14 days have passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      What may change how you report to HMRC is where you\u2019re importing the car from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Importing Into Northern Ireland From Outside the EU or Into Great Britain From Other Countries <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      If you\u2019re a VAT-registered company, you need to report to HMRC through a NOVA declaration within 14 days of your car\u2019s arrival. If you\u2019re somehow unable to use the NOVA online service, ask for a VAT NOVA1 form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If you import a Lamborghini<\/strong> or Ferrari<\/a> as a private individual, you still need to make a NOVA declaration. If you\u2019re using a shipping company or customs agent, ask them to make you one (but you may have to pay extra for this).       Importing From the Isle of Man<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      If you\u2019re planning to ship a car from the Isle of Man, you can skip the NOVA application. The only thing you need is the Isle of Man registration document for the vehicle you\u2019ve shipped and the completed form V55 to the DVLA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For vehicles with UK licence plates (or non-Isle of Man plates), ask for a NOVA1 form from the imports and exports helpline. Then, send the filled form alongside a cover letter explaining your situation to the Personal Transport Unit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Paying Customs Duty and VAT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
