We\u2019ve watched an FF drive UP a ski slope, seen two Great Danes emerge from the back seats \u2013 this car truly is the utilitarian Ferrari, there is no situation in which it isn\u2019t the single most appropriate car for the job.<\/p>\n<p>The engine is an utter masterpiece, but as we all know Ferrari only gets about 75% of what it\u2019s sonically capable of delivering out the back of the car with the standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/carparts\/marque\/part\/ferrari\/ferrari-exhaust.html\">OEM Ferrari exhaust<\/a> &#8230;and this is where Novitec swoops in to save the day.<\/p>\n<p>Novitec have established themselves as the undisputed, heavyweight champions when it comes to FF exhausts \u2013 simply put, nothing else comes close. It\u2019s almost approaching a point whereby if you don\u2019t have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/aftermarket\/novitec\">Novitec exhaust<\/a> on this car, you need to have a pretty good reason to justify the lack of it, without it you just aren\u2019t getting the full experience that the car has to offer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3875\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2-711x400.jpg 711w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3086-2.jpg 1820w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The exhaust itself is fairly simple, the standard exhaust is composed of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manifolds<\/li>\n<li>800-cell cats<\/li>\n<li>Middle silencer<\/li>\n<li>Rear silencers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We typically recommend the Stage 2 exhaust which is the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OEM Manifolds<\/li>\n<li>OEM 800-cell cats<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/aftermarket\/ferrari\/ff\/novitec-exhaust-replacement-pipe-x-pipe-system-stainless-steel_1007\">X pipe<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/aftermarket\/ferrari\/ff\/novitec-power-optimized-exhaust-system-with-flap-regulation_1012\">Novitec rear silencers<\/a> with valves<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/aftermarket\/ferrari\/sf90\/switchtronic-remote-replacement_16340\">Remote kit<\/a> to operate valves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stage 3 is also an option, which would be where we remove the OEM 800-cell cats and install either cat replacement pipes or 100-cell sport cats \u2013 along with a small unit to plug into the OBD port to cancel the warning light from Catalytic converter inefficiency.<\/p>\n<p>However, in practice this is just too loud to live with \u2013 if you don\u2019t have neighbours and you want your car to scream like an unabated banshee then it\u2019s utterly fantastic, but it\u2019s got a vicious bark on start-up and with the valves open you\u2019ll be waking the dead from about 5 miles away.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3879\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2-711x400.jpg 711w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3091-2.jpg 1820w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Stage 2 exhaust gives you the best of both worlds, a marginal increase in volume but a focus far more on honing HOW the car sounds, rather than just simply turning up the volume. The car sounds good as standard, but the Novitec exhaust cleans up the exhaust note, refines the high pitch howl and ultimately means you don\u2019t need to be going prison speeds to enjoy how your car sounds!<\/p>\n<p>This particular car came to us with the valves pinned open on the standard exhaust, which is essentially the same as installing a valve remote kit on the standard exhaust without bothering the change the rest of it. This isn\u2019t the right way to modify the car, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/carparts\/marque\/ferrari\/ferrari-parts.html\">Ferrari<\/a> ownership has never been about corner cutting and penny pinching \u2013 it\u2019s pure and utter hedonism, and that is something that is to be celebrated and indulged.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3877\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2-711x400.jpg 711w, https:\/\/www.scuderiacarparts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/DSCF3088-2.jpg 1820w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With a remote kit you\u2019re opening the valves where they would normally be shut, between 1,000RPM and 3,000RPM. The car sounds like a tractor with the OEM exhaust valves forced open, there is no difference at the top end as the valves are already open \u2013 so you\u2019re paying to make the car sound less refined and slightly louder when you\u2019re sitting still in traffic\u2026that\u2019s not a good look.<\/p>\n<p>As you can hear, the original exhaust is very agricultural, indistinct, and only sounds decent when you\u2019re right up in the rev range. The Novitec exhaust is very quiet with the valves open, so you can fly under the radar when needs be, but once they\u2019re open it sounds leagues ahead of the original. It sounds like a Ferrari should, plain and simple.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re toying with the idea of doing a remote kit, we beg you to reconsider \u2013 why pay to make the car do something it already does, to make the car sound worse, and to only notice the benefits when you\u2019re sitting at a red light?
