The 812 is slowly starting to build a reputation unlike any other \u201cregular\u201d front end V12.<\/p>\n

This is Ferrari\u2019s widowmaker \u2013 if we\u2019re all really, really honest with ourselves 800hp from an NA Ferrari V12 is both totally unreasonable, while simultaneously managing to be about as good as it gets. While it may not be the greatest sounding car from stock (see our other 812 blog post)<\/a>, it is guaranteed to do it\u2019s best to compress you brain into the back of your skull.<\/p>\n

The one thing we commonly hear from owner\u2019s is that it looks like it\u2019s wearing stilts, almost like a one of the Safari version of the Porsche 911 and we\u2019re inclined to agree\u2026<\/p>\n

This is what we affectionately refer to as \u201cthe lowest common denominator\u201d stance \u2013 Ferrari need to globally homologate a car, so rather than pushing the limits and individualising models depending on localised homologation regulations they simply take the most stringent of regulations and build the cars to meet that spec\u2026but fear not, we have the solution!<\/p>\n

Ignoring the additional carbon fibre elements (available through us, of course)<\/a> the first thing that strikes you about the second 812 is the fact that it looks squat, wide and angry. This looks like a coiled snake, the stock car looks like Bambi.<\/p>\n

The more eagle eyed amongst you might have noticed that the car is not only lower, it also has a set of absolutely beautiful wheels on it \u2013 these in particular are the Novitec NF9<\/a> finished in brushed gunmetal.<\/p>\n

Where the original Ferrari wheels<\/a><\/span> featured 20 inch front and rear, the car now has 21 inch wheels on the front and 22 inch wheels at the rear. The reason we recommend fitting the lowering springs<\/a> along with the wheels is simple, fitting larger wheels to a car which is already \u201cgappy\u201d and which already looks \u201cunderwheeled\u201d has the effect of raising the car up even further<\/p>\n

Without the lowering springs the car will look like a roller skate\u00a0\u2013 large wheels with a detached body suspended above it.<\/p>\n

A lot of people worry about the ride quality being compromised, in reality you will only notice a difference in the behaviour of the suspension under extreme load \u2013 if you\u2019re launching the car the nose will pitch up far less than stock, likewise if you properly stomp on the anchors the nose will dive far less than stock.<\/p>\n

These springs are not merely an aesthetic modification, they are primarily a performance upgrade \u2013 we wouldn\u2019t recommend anything else for an 800hp, 200mph+ Ferrari.<\/p>\n
